Dubrovnik, booked properly.
Which walls circuit starts before the heat. Which Elaphiti boat actually stops for a swim. What a Mostar day really costs. Every tour in and out of Dubrovnik, read and ranked.
Three ways to get above the Dubrovnik roofline.

The wall circuit is roughly two kilometres of stone with almost no shade, the cable car climbs Srđ in four minutes, and a guided Stradun walk fills in what the stones are actually saying. Most first mornings use two of the three.

The walls, walked the whole way round
Anticlockwise from Pile, the sea side first while the stone is still cool, Lovrijenac across the water and the whole terracotta bowl underneath you.
The days people fly to Dubrovnik for.
Island boats, the walls, the throne room lanes, kayaks under the cliffs and the two borders you can cross and come back from before dinner. The handful of days a Dubrovnik trip gets built around.
The Elaphitis are the reason to give Dubrovnik a whole day.
Šipan, Lopud and Koločep sit 45 minutes off Gruž and barely have a car between them. The full-day boats work all three with lunch aboard; the half-days pick one and let you swim off it.
Dubrovnik’s most-booked days out.

The lanes that played King’s Landing are a ten-minute walk apart.
The Jesuit stairs, Lovrijenac, the Pile harbour, Lokrum’s cloister with the Iron Throne replica in it. Guides carry the stills so you can hold the shot up against the wall it was filmed on.
What a day out of Dubrovnik costs.
Every tour on the site, sorted by what it actually costs per person. The cheapest end is not the thin end — some of the best mornings here are under sixty dollars.
Walls circuits, Old Town walks, kayak evenings, cable car combinations and the food tastings.
The full days: island cruises with lunch, Mostar and Kotor, Blue Cave boats, wine roads on the Pelješac.
Three things you can only do in Dubrovnik.
Walled towns and boat trips exist everywhere on this coast. Walking a complete circuit of intact medieval walls, paddling underneath them, and swimming off islands that never let cars on — those are this city’s alone.

The Complete Circuit
Dubrovnik’s walls were never breached and they were never pulled down, so the walk is a full loop rather than a surviving stretch — about two kilometres, up to 25 metres high, one way round only. There is almost no shade on the sea side and the steps are uneven medieval stone. The gates open early for exactly this reason.

Kayaks Below the Walls
From the little beach outside Pile you paddle out under the west wall, past Lovrijenac and across to Lokrum, which is where the sea caves and the snorkel stop are. Afternoon departures turn back with the wall face going gold; the guides read the maestral, the afternoon sea breeze, and set the route by it.

The Elaphiti Day
Koločep, Lopud and Šipan lie in a short line northwest of the city and are effectively car-free — Lopud moves luggage by golf buggy. Boats leave Gruž rather than the Old Port, lunch is usually cooked aboard or ashore on Šipan, and the swim stops are the point of the day, not an extra.

Most of this coast can be arranged the night before over a glass of Pošip. These cannot: they run on small boats, hard passenger caps and the cruise-ship calendar that decides how crowded a July morning in the Old Town is going to be.
- 01Blue Cave Small-Group Boat Tour from DubrovnikCave boats run about a dozen seats and the sea decides: when the wind shuts the cave the day is re-routed, and the re-routed boats are already full.
- 02Full-Day Dubrovnik Elaphite Islands Cruise with Lunch and DrinksThe full-day island boats with lunch aboard are the first thing to sell out in July and August — the half-days survive longer.
- 03Epic Game of Thrones Tour + Lokrum & Saver OptionGuided groups are capped so everyone can see the still being held up in a two-metre-wide lane; the good morning slots go weeks ahead.
- 04Sea Kayaking&Snorkelling Guided Day/Sunset ToursAfternoon and sunset departures are the ones people want, and each boat rack holds only so many kayaks.
The bura closes the boats. It does not close Dubrovnik.
The bura comes down off the mountains dry and hard, and when it does the small boats stay tied up in Gruž — often on a morning that looks perfectly sunny from your balcony. Everything below runs on roads and stone instead, and none of it minds the wind.
